Ullmann Festival – Their Music Lives On

A song recital featuring works by composers who were victims of the Nazis during World War II or who were imprisoned or persecuted by them. The program will also feature the premiere of Jan Dušek’s song cycle for soprano, tenor, and piano based on poems by authors tortured or murdered in concentration camps, and the cycle A la faveur de la nuit by composer Sylva Smejkalová based on poems by Robert Desnos.

Karl Horwitz (1884-1925): Six Poems, Op. 4 (Czech premiere)

Rudolf Karel (1880-1945): In the Glow of the Hellenic Sun, Op. 24

Sylva Smejkalová (*1974): A la faveur de la nuit (based on texts by Robert Desnos)
